441 Mononoir is a focused exploration of what can be achieved from a single microphone. Every sound in this pack was recorded using the Sennheiser MD 441, a German made dynamic microphone introduced in the early 1970s, known for its tight pickup pattern, strong midrange definition, and controlled low end. The intention is to show how much depth, punch, and texture can be pulled from one mic when it is pushed in different directions.
By taking one microphone and treating it as the only source, the pack leans into consistency rather than variety of gear. The kick stays solid and forward, snares remain tight and crisp, side sticks cut clean, and hats carry grit and crunch. Brushes, sticks, and varied articulations were used to capture different dynamics and responses.
Some sounds were sent through a 1976 Pioneer reel to reel tape machine, while others were shaped using different approaches to EQ, compression, and reverb. Within the pack you can find different mix variations from the same microphone, ranging from raw and direct to more processed and saturated.
The pack includes 200 drum breaks, where you can find different mix variations and textures throughout. Alongside the breaks are one shots covering kicks, snares, hats, fills, percussion, and cymbals. There are also 30 layered percussion loops built from stacked rhythmic elements and 32 hat loops.
Everything in 441 Mononoir is 100 percent royalty free.
